LOCATION Camp is located 215 miles north of Madison near Antigo, WI.  Two lakes compliment the woodlands, bog, and open fields on the 320-acre camp property. 

STAFF Each year camp employs approximately 40 staff.  Our staff is primarily made up of  college age students from across the country, and world.  The camp director is employed year round on a full time basis.  Camp hires both male and female staff for all positions and does not discriminate against any person based on race, gender, age, national origin, disability or sexual orientation.

LIVING SPACE Both campers and staff live in platform tents.  There are up to 9 tents per unit and there are 6 units.  Each tent holds 4 beds.  The staff live together in one or two tents within each unit.  Along with the tents each unit has its own latrine and wash stand.  There are two central bathhouses where campers shower.  Our staff house has shower facilities for our staff. 

TRAINING Staff training begins as early as May 15 for some of our seasonal camp staff.  Staff training for ALL staff is the first 2 weeks of June.  All staff members are trained in a variety of areas including: health and safety, emergency procedures,, behavior management, outdoor activities, fire building, child abuse detection and prevention, diversity, and many more.
 
TIME OFF Each staff member gets 2 hours per day off.  Staff will also get one 24-hour period off and if possible one evening off per week.  Additional time off is given throughout the week, based on the needs of the camp.

CAMPERS Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Badgerland Council serves 21 counties in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, and Iowa.  The majority of the camper who attend camp come from these areas.  Campers ages 8-17 stay at camp for 5-28 days of canoeing, hiking, arts, nature, campfires, and more.  Campers may also sign up for specialty programs such as horseback riding, rock climbing, leadership development, backpacking,  and kayaking to name a few.

Assistant Director*: 

Min. age: 21 Work closely with Camp Director to ensure efficient administration of the camp.  Oversee camp in Director’s absence, supervise and support staff.  Responsible for staff supervision, camp trading  post operations,  office management, telephone and communication with Council Office.  Requires time commitment prior to the start of camp.

Health Supervisor*:
Min. age 21 Supervise and be responsible for the general health and safety of campers and staff; promote physical fitness;  administer first aid and medications to camps and staff; maintain sanitary conditions throughout camp; assist in staff training.  Must be an RN, LPN, E.M.T., First Responder, or graduate nurse.

Program Director*: 

Min. age: 21 Plan and coordinate all-camp activities, u-picks,  evening programs, supervise program area heads, assist in general administration of camp programs.  Programming experience preferred.  Current driver’s license required.   

Waterfront Director*:

Min. age: 21 Responsible for the development and administration of camp’s waterfront.  Train and supervise waterfront staff and watchers, teach all aquatic activities., assist in units as requested. Must be a currently certified lifeguard, current CPR certification, and have small craft experience.  Driving may be required.

Waterfront Counselor  
Min. age: 18 Help plan and carry out waterfront activities including canoeing, kayaking, and sailing.  Assist in teaching and supervising campers. Assists in unit as a counselor when not in program area.  Must be a currently certified lifeguard, current CPR certification.

Head Wrangler*:

Min. age: 21 Supervise Black Hawk riding program and staff .  Responsible for care of horses, tack and other equipment, barn and pasture areas.  Previous horseback instructor experience required.  Driving may be required.

Wrangler Counselor

Min. age: 18 Assist with instruction of riding program & and care of horses and facilities.  Assists in units as a counselor when not in program area. 

Arts Advisor*:

Min. age 18 Administer & teach a progressive and creative arts program including photography and ceramics.; assists in units as needed when not in program area. Train staff on arts & crafts; provide quality programs to our campers.

Adventure Director*:

Min. age 21  Supervises Trips/Trail staff; trains trip/trail staff, plans all out of camp adventure trips; oversees  the climbing wall and ropes course and supervises the climbing wall/ropes course counselor.  Facilitate group initiatives & help with in camp overnights as needed.  Must be 21 years old & have a valid driver’s license.

Trips Trail Leader*:
Min. age 21 Facilitate group initiatives & lead out-of-camp adventure trips.  Experience and training with low and high ropes courses and rock climbing required.  Prepare your group for its out of camp trip. Must be able to attend trainings have relevant certifications, & trip leading experience. Driving required.

Adventure Counselor*:

Min . Age 18 Responsible for coordinating and assisting groups using the climbing wall, ropes course, initiatives course;  supervise, maintain, and teach archery. Assist in units as a counselor when not in program area. 

Leadership Director*:

Min. Age 21  Supervises all leadership programs at CBH.  Develop & implement the Junior Counselor, CIT, specialties, and LEAP programs. Supervises the Leadership Counselor.  Must have valid drivers license &previous camp experience.

Leadership Counselor: 

Min age 18 Responsible for assisting the Leadership Director with all CBH Leadership programs. Assists in teaching leadership classes, writing new curriculum for the leadership programs, and scheduling. 

Head Counselor*:

Min age 21  Responsible for campers and staff within a group of units: scheduling time off, scheduling activities, and attending weekly or bi-weekly head counselor meetings.  Supervises Counselors.  Previous camp experience helpful. Driving may be required.

Counselor
Min. age 18  Acts as a team member by assisting girls in planning for and carrying out programming.  Ability to teach, supervise, and have fun with the campers.  Assists in supervising a unit of 12-24 girls. 

Nature Counselor*:
 

Min. age 18 Works with Program Director in the development and implementation of the nature/environmental program.  Teach and guide campers in gaining and understanding nature.  Assists in units as a counselor when not in program area.

Food Service manager*: 
 
Min. age 21 Oversee total foodservice procedures for camp of approximately 160 people per session.  Create menus, set up food service area, cook  nutritious meals, food ordering, supervise and delegate responsibilities.  Requires previous food service experience including supervisory experience.  Room and board provided.

Cook:
 

Min age 18  Assist food service manager in providing quality food service for up to 200 people per session.  Must be flexible and willing to work hard.

Kitchen Assistant:
Min. age 16  Responsible for washing the dishes including pots and pans, mopping, assist in meal preparation, pack outs, and other kitchen duties.
